How do I get a library card?

Library cards are available to all residents of Rahway. All we need is a proof of ID (like a drivers license) and a proof of address (such as a piece of mail). Members of the STELLA consortium can use their home library cards at our location. Nonresidents and individuals who do not live in a town served by the STELLA consortium may purchase a one year membership for $50.

Do I need a library card to use the computer?

A library card is not required to use our computers.

What is my pin?

Pin numbers are generally set to the last four digits of the phone number associated with your library account. If you are still having trouble logging in, please give us a call and we will reset it for you.

Where are your bathrooms?

Our public bathrooms are located off of our main lobby just outside our sliding doors and opposite our elevators. Children and their parents are also welcome to use our single occupancy bathrooms in the children’s area.

Does the library have meeting rooms?

The library has a quiet study room that seats four people. This room can be reserved for one hour per day. The library also has an auditorium that can be reserved for larger events.

Can I volunteer?

The library offers volunteer shelving opportunities. If you would like to participate, please fill out our application here. The library also periodically needs volunteer ESL and computer literacy teachers. We advertise as these opportunities become available. Please check our website and social media accounts for our current needs.

Can I print?

The library offers public printing in both black and white (20 cents / page) and color (50 cents / page). Patrons may print their job out from our public computers or send it to our print release station via email.

Do you want a copy of my book?

The library supports our local authors. If you have written a book and would like to donate it to the library, please leave it at the front desk. If we think your book would be of interest to our community and meets our content standards, we will add it to our collection.

Can children be here by themselves?

Children younger than 12 cannot be in the library by themselves. Please review our unaccompanied child policy for more details.

How do I access the WiFi?

Public WiFi is available throughout the library. This network is unprotected and there is no password. Please connect to the Rahway Public Library network and accept the terms and conditions. Patrons using our WiFi assume all risk and liabilities.
