The Rahway Public Library maintains a collection of over 130,000 unique items, multiple online streaming services, museum passes, test prep materials, eBooks, genealogical archives, local historical documents, magazines, scholarly databases, and much more!
Are you looking for a beach book or searching for a movie for an evening in? Maybe you are interested in research like doing a deep dive into your family’s history. Whatever your interest, the library has something for everyone. Start here. Go anywhere.
Library cards are available and free to all residents of Rahway. They are also available to non-residents who own property or a business in town as well as individuals who work in Rahway. If none of these categories apply, a card may be purchased for $50. Residents must provide a proof of identification and proof of residency. Non-residents must also provide proof of property ownership or proof of employment within the city.
Membership at the Rahway Public Library grants our patrons access to our collection – both physical and digital – as well as the holdings of the 40+ local libraries that are members of the STELLA consortium. Some restrictions apply. For more information, please see our full borrower policy.
To further its mission to inform, enrich and inspire the community, the Rahway Public Library makes Museum Passes available for the community to borrow and use. The Board of Trustees adopted this policy to encourage and promote access to these materials. Our passes allow our patrons to access a number of local venues of cultural value either for free admission or at a reduced rate.
Our passes can be reserved through the Museum Key service [link…I don’t have this]. Museum passes can be borrowed for up to three days. No renewals are allowed and a $2 daily late fee will be applied for overdue passes. Our full museum pass policy can be found here.
To further its mission to inform, enrich and inspire the community, the Rahway Public Library makes available Mobile Internet Hotspots for the community to borrow and use. Hotspot checkout is limited to one per household. A returned hotspot must remain available in the Library for 24 hours before the same patron, or another patron living in the same household, may check it out again.
The loan period is two weeks and hot spots cannot be renewed. Borrowers cannot loan a hot spot to another person. Hotspots that are overdue will be remotely deactivated rendering the device unusable to prevent continued internet access.
An overdue charge of $2 per day will be charged up to a maximum of $100. Please see our complete mobile hotspot policy for more details.
As a member of the STELLA consortium, the Rahway Public Library provides its patrons access to over 40 additional library collections. This amounts to millions of books, movies, and other materials that can be requested and shipped to our facility.
The Rahway Public Library is also a member of the JerseyCat system which provides access to over 40 million additional items at libraries across the state. Shipping times are often fast, but can take up to 1-2 weeks for some titles. Requests within the STELLA system can be made directly through our online catalog. JerseyCat requests can be made by contacting our reference desk at extension 212.
If there is title you are interested in is not available through the STELLA consortium, please let us know by completing the form below:
